KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 — Sime Darby Property Bhd, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd will be developing build-to-suit (BTS) industrial facilities at Bandar Bukit Raja Industrial Gateway.

In a statement today, Malaysia’s largest developer in terms of land bank said the development on 15.78 hectares of prime land will be undertaken by its joint venture company, SDMIT Development Sdn Bhd.

SDMIT is in active discussions with multiple parties for additional tenants of the development and planning to grow its portfolio of BTS facilities.

The development has attracted its first two tenants — Leschaco (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a global logistics service provider, and Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd, one of the country’s leading consumer electronics chain stores.

“Construction on the BTS facility for Leschaco (Malaysia) and Senheng Electric (KL) has been planned to begin simultaneously in November 2019,” it said, adding that both facilities have been planned on a combined land area of about 4.05 hectares with a built-up area of about 385,000 sq ft.

Acting group chief executive officer of Sime Darby Property, Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri, said Selangor is also home to more than 10 strategic industrial parks, thriving cities and townships.

“Bandar Bukit Raja Industrial Gateway benefits from being in Selangor, the country’s most industrialised and developed state, an economic and manufacturing- driven area with excellent business infrastructure and accessibility, and with an educated and highly skilled population,” he added.

Chief executive officer of MBK Real Estate Asia, Eiichi Tanabe, said the project is the first industrial development within the Klang Valley for Mitsui.

“The Malaysian economy will further grow due to increase in demand from fast moving consumer goods and e-commerce businesses which brings consolidation and relocation needs for warehouses.

“Together with our strategic partners, Sime Darby Property and Mitsubishi Estate, we are confident that the project will be successful,” Eiichi added.

MBK Real Estate Asia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co that undertakes property development and investment activities.
